დ Sinópsis: 

Cuando una relación falsa entre científicos se encuentra con la fuerza irresistible de la atracción, arroja al caos las teorías cuidadosamente calculadas de una mujer sobre el amor.

დ Primeros pensamientos: 

Mi encuentro con este libro, fue nada más y nada menos que atraves de #BookTok. ¿Deberíamos estar sorprendidos en este punto de la vida? Absolutamente no, #BookTok es ahora gran parte de mi viaje en la lectura y en el cual sigo encontrando grandes libros que me dejan traumada y emocionada (de la única forma en que sucede para una fangirl lectora, ¿no?), ahora el primero video que vi acerca de este libro, fue una escena de smut entre los personajes, y no podía creer que venía del mismisimo Wattpad como fanfic de Reylo (el cuál estimo con gran manera, shipper de esos dos desde el principio), en pocas palabras: Este libro fue un hitter desde el principio.

 Olive: Nuestra protagonista es mi espíritu animal en todos los sentidos posibles: emocionalmente complicada, no sabe relacionarse de manera amorosa ni intima si no tiene confianza con la persona, se hace bolas y mete en problemas sola, incómoda y un poco extraña, pero con un grupo de amigos fieles que la apoyan y ayudan siempre. Olive me representa a mí y miles de lectoras, así como a la mismísima autora, lo que la hace una gran protagonista y muy importante en este mundo, siempre lo he dicho y lo seguiré diciendo: Un personaje es bueno cuando puedes realcionarte e identificarte con él. Y para mí, ese fue el caso de Olive, desde el principio comete un error y se ve obligada a acercarse al profesor tirano de Stanford, pero al mismo tiempo es increíble porque la obliga a tener este acercamiento forzado que nos permite ver estas invaluables interacciones con Adam, precioso hermoso, Carlsen.

Adam: Precioso hermoso Adam, ¿puedo casarme contigo de verdad? No les puedo explicar lo maravilloso que es ver a este hombre en acción durante el proceso del libro, desde el principio puedes ver detalles súper importantes para la trama y para la relación que comienzan a tener estos dos personajes, decir que es invaluable y de esos hombres que simplemente DESEAS que existan en la vida real es poco. Yo anhelo un hombre como él o como Aaron Blackford, pero luego hablaremos de él. El nivel de sárcasmo en este hombre me dejó perpleja, no hubo una sola escena donde no me riera con el y Olive (excepto las emocionales CLARO está). Y el hecho de imaginar constantemente a Adam Driver todo el tiempo, hizo mi experiencia leyendo esta gran obra 100% mejor, pero ese es mí caso (aunque también debería ser el de ustedes).

დ Reseña general: 

Mi experiencia personal con este libro no va a ser igual que el de ustedes, y tenemos que aclarar un par de cosas, pues ha llegado a haber reviews mixtas en cuanto a lo "bueno" que es el libro. Primero, este libro es slow born, hay que dejar eso súper claro. Si esperas una interacción rápida o instantanea entre los personajes, no lo vas a encontrar en este libro, mejor busca otro. 

La protagonista es incómoda, no toma siempre las mejores decisiones y no observa lo obvio, tenemos un protagonista grumpy que es solo amable con la protagonista y no es muy abierto con sus sentimientos pero aún así hay una demostración algo publica, dentro de su capacidad, sobre lo que siente. Agregamos que es una relación falsa y tienen momentos que te dejan el estómago con mariposas; para mí esa es la formula ganadora y lo que me hizo enamorarme tanto de este libro, muchas páginas fueron marcadas para volver a leer sus momentos especiales y detalles, al mismo tiempo que cuando llegas a la parte en que finalmente tienen relaciones...hermanas fue una maravilla en todos los sentidos, para ser romance contemporáneo de slow burn, la cosa se predió y no me dejó nada que desear. 

Adam como interés amoroso fue maravilloso, (otro husbando agregado a la lista), y Olive como protagonsita, quise abrazarla tantas veces porque yo soy Olive o he sido en algún punto. Para muchos fue un downer que este libro hay sido originalmente un fanfic de Kylo y Rey, pero para mi fue un punto extra, me encanta ese ship desde siempre y pude imaginar claramente a Adam como Adam. Solo para darles un incentivo de lo que pueden encontrar en el libro, les dejo esta escena: 

Adam demorándose en la puerta, con su mano en la perilla volteó a ver a Olive. Sus ojos la sostuvieron unos momentos antes de decir, "No te pongas nerviosa, ¿okey?"

Ella presiono sus labios y asintió. "Solo haré lo que la Dra. Aslan siempre dice." 

"¿Y qué es?" 

"Tener la misma confianza de un hombre blanco mediocre."

El sonrió, y — ahí estaban. Los hoyuelos para corazones. "Todo estará bien, Olive". Su sonrisa se suavizó. "Y si no, al menos habrá terminado." 

No fue hasta unos minutos después, que se sentó en su cama en el Boston skyline, comiendo su lonche, que Olive se dió cuenta de la barra de proteína que Adam le había dado, estaba cubierto de chocolate. 

(Para contexto: Adam odia el chocolate, trajo al viaje una caja de barras y se las regaló a Olive, todas las barras son iguales cubiertas de chocolate. ¡¡¡¡LAS TRAJO SOLO PARA ELLA!!!!!)

Adam Carlsen, responsible for 90 percent of the department’s tears, had actually managed to make someone stop crying. Who would’ve thought?

My heart hurt cause this was so good in so many levels.
First of all, let’s CLARIFY the level of excellence this book delivered. This used to be a Wattpad fanfic of Kylo and Rey, which is THE GREATEST THING OF ALL TO SAY THE LEAST. If that doesn’t convince you, let’s talk about the tropes.

The story follows Olive, a third y PH.D student who has to make sure her best friend think she is dating someone Why you may ask? Because she never dates and her best friend Anh never lives her be with that decision. One day, Olives decides to put an end to it, and kisses the first person she sees, only that person is the dickest man in the whole Stanford campus, Dr. Adam Carlsen. After humiliating herself, and making him uncomfortable, he agrees to help her with her predicament by fake dating her, but this is a romance book, and it’s never that easy.

I mean, COME ON. You just have to read this. Of course I saw many many many teasers on BookTok, and I was like, you know what? I’m not gonna wait, I’m a freaking read it, and it was 100% worth it. I cannot even do it justice, if I tried to explain to you how good it is, it wouldn’t be fair cause it is that good. It is super duper cute, has great moments, I was looking at my fake camera men the whole time this freaking delicious man SAID the things that made me and the protagonist gasp and fluster. THE SCENE WHERE THEY FINALLY 🔥💦🔥 WAS OMG WHAT LIKE GOOOOOOOD. And the humor, don’t even, so good, I cracked up so many times, it’s just, so good so good, it may top The Spanish love deception, but I mean, maybe not but yes, they are on the same level.

I’m not gonna lie to you, this is a slow burn, they always are, this is contemporary romance, if you want them to shack it right away, go and look for a smuttiest book, but there are scenes that are REALLY cute and other with a little spice that compensate the waiting of them finally doing it. Just to give you some examples so you excited yourself: There’s a “I have to sit on his lap”, “I have to put sunscreen on him” AND EVEN A “WHAT HAPPENED? WHO MADE YOU CRY?” AS HE KNEELS IN FRONT OF HER SCENE. So yeah, good times.

And I totally imagined Adam Drive as Adam Carlsen, like even the way he acted and talked, it was so him, totally, and I loved it, I’m freaking in love once again. Surprised? You shouldn’t. Will I be single forever and die alone because of my expectations in men? Absolutely. But it is totally worth it, because THIS BOOK EVEN MADE ME CRY OF HAPPINESS TO BE READING IT.

”I am going to take care of this,” he told her. There was something determined, earnest in his eyes. Olive had never felt safer, or more loves. “And then I’ll come find you, and I’ll take care of you”.

COME ON WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?
