 Hay monstruos en el mundo.

Lakesedge es el primer libro en la nueva serie World at the Lake's Edge, libro debut de la autora Lyndall Clipstone. 

Este fue el segundo libro del #spookyseasonchallenge que estoy realizando por octubre. Recibí un ARC gracias a #NetGallery y tuve la oportunidad de leer este libro en su semana de publicación. Anteriormente lo había visto anunciado/recomendado en #BookTok y en #Goodreads por @caitsbooks.  El libro llama la atención desde la portada, el ambiente y la descripción atrapan en gran manera, sobretodo con el romance y el suspenso, he descubierto que esa mezcla hacen que la tensión incremente y los personajes se involucren en un nivel íntimo increíble.

"Leta"

Leta: Tengo que admitir que al principio de la historia, las decisiones que tomaba me desesperaban, era frustante lidiar con ella y lo que hacía, era entendible el miedo que sentía, pues confiar en un hombre que supuestamente asesino a su familia y tiene un interés en tu hermano, no es fácil. Pero aún así, las decisiones que tomo constantemete de "huir" y reprimir los poderes de su hermano, era desesperante. Esa fue la principal razón por la que al principio el libro no lograba enamorarme y tardé más de lo planeado en leer. PERO, una vez que ya estan en Lakesedge sus comportamientos y pensar acerca de la alchimia, te interesa más como protagonista, además que no es fácil cuando un personaje tiene como principal rasgo ser sobreprotector, para mi a veces es difícil lidiar con esos rasgos porque mueven mucho el desarrollo de la historia. Ella como protagonista no me encantó, pero admito que cerca del final, cuando finalmente sede ante Rowan y empieza a involucrarse con Lord Under, la empecé a querer. Además que como hermana mayor, comparto muchas actitudes con ella.

"Leta y Rowan"

Rowan: Nuevamente me han entregado un personaje de cabello negro, aparentemente un antivillano en la historia, con pasado trágico y dispuesto a hacer todo por la gente que ama. GRACIAS LYNDALL. Debo decir que ya, desde el principio cuando Rowan conoce a Violeta, nos regalan una interración no romántica pero sí intensa, cuando la ve por primara vez y le dice que no quiere que ella vaya a la mansión, porque no tiene interés en ella, pero la vee intensamente porque claramente HAY un interés. Y que después vee los moretones en sus brazos y siente ese deseo de protegerla. Como les explico, ¡¿cómo les explico?! Quedé enamorada de él, solo de recordar cada detalle y encuentro que tienen me dan mariposas. LE DIÓ UN BAÚL LLENO DE VESTIDOS, ¿necesito decir más? Y aunque no hay tanto romance y absolutamente nada de spice (porque es YA), me encantaron sus interacciones completa y absolutamente.

Lord Under: En esta historia no vemos tanto desarollo con Lord Under, en los primeros capítulos, es meramente una figura divina oscura de la que se habla, pero hacia el final, comienza a tener un papel clave en la vida de Violeta, de ser su salvador, a un traidor y después aliado para vencer la oscuridad que amenaza el mundo de Violeta y el mundo de las almas donde habita Lord. Y desde como lo describen, hasta como trata a Violeta y su interés por ella, son magníficos, y solo tomó una frase para convencerme y quererlo demasiado. 

"My Violet on the woods." 

Eso, esa frase, eso fue todo lo que necesité para convencerme de él. 

დ Reseña general:: 

Ahora hablemos de esta obra tenebrosa. Este libro es una combinación de The Haunting of Bly Manor y La Vida Invisible de Addie LaRue. Con suspenso, mágia, siniestro y escenas románticas bonitas. El ambiente está perfectamente establecido de principio a final, con un par de hermanos tratando de sobrevivir las trágedias de su vida, con un interés amoroso moralmente gris pero con un sweet spot por la protagonísta, un villano que tiene un interés por la protagonista, (lo cuál puede resultar en un triangulo amoroso, pero no en este primer libro). Debo admitir que lo leí con muchas esperanzas, perdiendolas a la mitad pero recuperandolo al final. La forma en que la historia se desarrolla es lento, es slow burn tanto en trama como de romance, sobretodo porque el tema principal es el suspenso y horror, no tanto el romance. Es una especia de dark academia, y llegó a ser pesada en terminos de tener que detenerme para asimilar lo que estaba leyendo y procesarlo correctamente. Hay mucho gore y descripciones fuertes, (al final les dejaré la lista oficial de TW para este libro). 

Los personajes me encantaron, desde Leta, su hermano Aiden, el monstruoso Rowan y el oscuro Lord Under. Mi deseo de que Rowan y Violeta terminaran juntos, especialmente por el pasado tan trágico que ambos tienen, fue tan fuerte hasta que llegó Lord Under a encaldinarme con su oscuridad, si es que eso es posible. Y me costó tanto adentrarme correctamente en el ambiente que al final, cuando todo se veía increiblemente bueno, me dejaron en cliffhanger, lo cuál ODIO con todo mi corazón; pero eso solo me deja con ganas de leer el siguiente libro que sale en el 2022. (No puedo esperarrrrrrrrrr). 

Completamente recomendada como lectura de otoño, para el spookyseason y suspenso romántico.

What a great reading, omg. AND THAT CLIFFHANGER ENDING. It's been a long time since a cliffhanger left me so void, I NEED THE SECOND BOOK YESTERDAY.

And before I go an tell you all about what a great spooky book this is, let's set the tropes:

This book is a combination of The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. It's the perfect October read and I'm so glad I decided to read it, it's so good, suspenful, mysterious, sweet and creppy.

The story follows Violeta, our main character, who's only mission in life is to protect those who she loves, that includes her little brother Adrien, a boy with the magic of shadows, but as he continues to suffer from the abstinent of using his magic, she has no way of hiding the evident. He is not a normal boy. And our mysterious Lord Sylvanan, Rowan, a 19 year old boy who is known to be a monster, find the siblings and threatens them to help him end with the Corruption, a dark magic that threatens to end with their world as they know it. But Leta founds herself in trouble when she tries to save her beloved Lord, and at the same time, stars to interact with the Lord of the Under.

What immediately drove my attention was the cover as well as the description of the book, and since October stared, I thought this was gonna be a great reading to set the spooky mood of fall. But I underestimated how good this book was going to be. I have to admit that it is a little heavy towards the story, not necessary on the tropes but, it is kind of a dark academia, and the history is so well written I had to take breaks to let things sink in. The balance between the dark magic scenes and the sweet interactions with our two main characters, were delightful, so well managed. I rooted so much for Rowan and Violeta to end up together because of their background. Both have suffer so much, and they need each other in order to finally get a happy ending after all the tragedies they've been throw. But the stupid cliffhanger lives us with no clue what is going to happen.

Now there are two boys in this story that drove my attention:

Our sweet monster: Rowan
And the God of dead: Lord of the Under

BOTH OF THEM HAVE A CLEAR INTEREST ON VIOLETA. And all I have to say is, girl, good luck. Don't know how you are going to manage your feelings with those two. Both of them are so intense and HANDSOME. That's the worst part, how will she choose? I don't know but I do wish I could be her.

And if you still can't decide if you should read this book, I'll leave you this quote of my monsterly Rowan:
